Birth of a Name

Last Wednesday, I was having sushi with Keith and Vivers when the subject of blogs came up. Here's a rough transcription of the conversation that took place:

K: So Sherry, do you blog?
S: Not really, I keep a journal when I travel, but that's about it.
K: You have to keep a blog.
S: Fine, I'll set one up on blogger.
K: What are going to call it?
S: I dunno. Sherry in Shanghai?
V: That's boring.
K: Yeah, you can't do that.
S: Ok... so do you have a better suggestion?
K & V in unison (With twinkle in eyes and everything): Shanghai Sherry!

So that chronicles the birth of shanghaisherry, excitement and adventure abound. It's barely breaking 8 am and already feels like 95˚. My temporary flat is right off the busy metro intersection of XuJiaHui, a 15 minute walk to my future university. It's my second day in the Whore of the Orient and I've yet to be cussed at, spit on, or offered any drugs. Ok, time to get shanghai-ed!

I wanted to look up the map for your area...until I realized it was all in chinese. Then I Google Earth-ed it and I still couldn't find it. So, I just wikipedia-ed it and voila! There it was! And then there was this guy...
