Danwei TV = Hilarious

How my non-mandarin speaking, New York living, Dutch wielding sister found this before me I haven't the slightest clue:

Hammering Away

Recently got a note from a friend back home that's lived as an expat several times over. His comment hit the nail on the head as far as my current schizophrenic sentiments about living abroad. To quote Stuart:

"it is a bitter sweet experience. comparison and contrast. homesickness. hating all that home stands for. hating everything about your new home. loving everything about your new home. making excuses for home. apologism. standing up for home. patriotism. Wondering why these other folk just don't seem to be able to get it right. Wondering why home can't just get it."

I'd give that one a bazillion kudos.

I am Addicted to Yet Another Social Networking Website

Created a year after I graduated from university, I've managed to resist the temptations of Facebook for about three years. Nowadays, I have slotted myself with virtual social groups such as "Architecture for Humanity" and "Unlike 99.99% of the Facebook population, I was born in the 70s." I also distinguish myself amongst the "Earthsos.org" group as well as the "how many useless groups can I join on facebook?" group. I can "poke" and "spank" my friends, and am anticipating a "bitch slap" module. I am now searching for an "addicted to facebook" group.

A Cool Map of Shanghai

The interface for this interactive map reminds me of Civ 3, the highly addictive game I had to hide from myself during my third year in college. :) You can actually see my office building: If you scroll directly west across the river from the start page, its on the southwest corner where the road running north and south (中山东二路) intersects the freeway running east and west.(延安东路) Very cool!
